Chinese Zodiac Sign Tiger and Dragon Traits Compatibility    by Jackson Swift

In Chinese Astrology each sign is represented by an animal. There are 12 animal signs in total, each corresponding to a lunar year, with each sign also having 5 elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal & Water). In certain years, particular elements are more prominent. For their reward they were promised to name a year in order of their arrival (rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, cock, dog and boar).

The doctrine of the twelve zodiac signs emerged during the Han Dynasty which later became popular throughout China.

The Chinese Zodiac Signs are also used in horoscopes as an astrological forecast which determines the future, personality and traits of a person.

As Chinese Astrology is one of the oldest types of Astrology, the origins of naming the years after animals is unknown. But a popular legend is that Buddha (c.563-c.483 B.C)

Out of the twelve zodiacs, in this article, the Chinese Zodiac Tiger and Dragon will be discussed to see their compatibilities.

Tiger Personality

The Tiger have the same traits with that of its animal counterpart which is fierce and courageous. They are adventurously hungry and a great competitor. The good side of their personality is being charismatic and understanding to other people. They can be very proud and good strategists and works with a hidden agenda. In addition, the tiger is a star performer and has a good sense of humor.

The other side of the character of a Tiger is that they tend to be frustrated and emotional especially by people or events. Because Tigers are fueled with energy, passion and enthusiasm they become impatient and want to do things right away and gets frustrated of unplanned delays.

Tigers are like magnets. Friends love to surround them because of the confidence they exude. Tigers are romantic and they enjoy sex and life.

Dragon Personality

The Dragon is the symbol of the Chinese emperors. They are born leaders and masters of ceremonies. Just like the tiger, Dragons are energetic and free spirited and love the outdoors.

The Dragon can see the solutions to problems and find ways to overcome obstacles to win any situation which makes them an idealists and perfectionist.

The downside of being a dragon is being ill-tempered, stubborn and irritable but they can also be delightful, dauntless, and dynamic; and they also love good food, big gestures and big ideas.

When it comes to love, the dragon has two characteristics. Either they become very loyal and commit to serious relationships or can be loners and never marry at all. The Dragon is libidinous and scores quite a hit with the opposite sex.

The Tiger and Dragon are feisty, aggressive and determined. Both can be leaders; the tiger for being a humanitarian and empathetic while the dragon for being intelligent, willing and generous. In Chinese Zodiac, the year 2010 is the year of the Tiger which reveals that this year hot passion meets cold steel with the arrival of the year of the Metal Tiger. This combined sign signifies both the energy to begin activity and the determination to follow it through to the end. Forget about last year’s slow plodding. Events set in motion now will pick up speed and continue until either the objective is attained or the whole endeavor crashes and burns.

History of the Zodiac

History of the Zodiac

$49.48

The zodiac was first clearly defined by the Babylonians some 2500 years ago, but until recently the basis of this original definition remained unknown. This zodiac of the Babylonians, known as the sidereal zodiac because it is specified in direct relation to the stars (Latin sideris, ‘starry’), was used for centuries throughout the ancient world, all the way to India, and must be distinguished from the tropical zodiac in widespread use by astrologers in the West today, which was introduced only in the middle of the second century A.D. by the Greek astronomer Claudius Ptolemy. Such was Ptolemy’s influence, however, that the tropical zodiac gained prominence and, except for its survival (in a variant form) in India, knowledge of the sidereal zodiac was lost. In this thrilling study of the history of the zodiac, first submitted in 2004 as his Ph.D. thesis, Robert Powell rescues the the sidereal zodiac from the dusts of time, tracing it back to the Babylonians in the sixth/fifth centuries B.C. The implications of this discovery-among them the restitution of the sideral zodiac to its rightful place at the heart of astrology-are immense, they key point being that the signs of the sidereal zodiac, each thirty degrees long, coincide closely with the twelve astronomical constellations of the same name, whereas the signs of the tropical zodiac, since they are defined in relation to the vernal point, now have no direct relationship to the corresponding zodiacal constellations, owing to the precession of the equinoxes. This revolutionary history of the zodiac includes chapters on the Egyptian decans and the Hindu nakshatras, showing how these sidereal divisions, which originated in Egypt and India, are related to the original Babylonian zodiac. It also sheds light on the controversy surrounding the ‘zodiac question’ (tropical vs. sidereal), illuminating the history of the tropical zodiac-showing that originally it was not a zodiac at all, but a calendar for describing the course of the seasons This book, the fruit of thirty years of research, is intended not only for scholars but for general readers as well, and offers the clearest and most comprehensive study of the history of the zodiac yet published.
